Milford Motel is looking for an experienced and confident Duty Manager to join our team. This is a hands‑on, floor‑focused role for someone who leads by example and knows how to keep a busy hospitality venue running smoothly. You'll be responsible for managing day‑to‑day shifts, supervising staff and ensuring our customers receive consistently friendly and professional service. Key responsibilities Lead the front‑of‑house team and maintain a strong presence on the floor. Manage day‑to‑day shifts and ensure the venue operates smoothly, efficiently and professionally. Supervise, support and motivate staff throughout service. Allocate duties and manage staffing levels during each shift. Maintain high standards of customer service, presentation and cleanliness. Ensure opening and closing procedures are completed correctly. Handle customer enquiries, feedback and complaints professionally. Ensure compliance with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act, our licence conditions and host responsibility requirements. Manage cash handling, till reconciliation and end‑of‑day reporting. Assist with stock control, receiving deliveries and reducing wastage. About you A current and valid New Zealand Manager's Certificate — essential. Previous experience as a Duty Manager or in a hospitality leadership role. Strong floor‑management skills and the confidence to lead staff during busy services. The ability to manage day‑to‑day shifts independently. Excellent customer‑service and communication skills. A calm, practical approach to solving problems. Sound knowledge of host responsibility and licensed‑premises requirements. Reliable, organised and comfortable taking responsibility for the venue. Availability to work a flexible roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays. Valid legal rights to work in New Zealand.
