Operations Supervisor

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Operations Supervisor to oversee and grow a portfolio of tourism ventures in the Tongariro region. This role combines operational management, business development, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning to support sustainable tourism opportunities that create long-term economic and employment benefits for Māori landowners and beneficiaries. The role's primary responsibility is overseeing the successful operation of our business involving the shuttle and parking services that support visitors accessing the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Alongside operational oversight, the Operations Supervisor will support the development of guided hiking, fishing, and other eco-tourism experiences that leverage unique opportunities across Māori-owned land and Department of Conservation (DOC) track networks. This is an exciting position for someone who enjoys balancing day-to-day business operations with supporting identification and development of new tourism opportunities that align with Māori values, kaitiakitanga, and sustainable economic development. Key responsibilities Provide operational leadership and oversight for carpark and shuttle operations. Monitor service delivery, customer experience, operational efficiency, and financial performance. Manage contractor and supplier relationships. Ensure compliance with health and safety, vehicle licensing, transport regulations, and tourism industry requirements. Develop and maintain operational procedures and reporting systems. Monitor visitor trends and identify opportunities to improve service delivery and profitability. Support the development and launch of guided hiking, fishing, cultural, and eco-tourism experiences. Assist in market research and feasibility assessments for proposed tourism ventures. Build strong relationships with landowner beneficiaries, iwi partner representatives, DOC, local government, tourism operators, and community organisations. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting. About you Experience in tourism operations, visitor services, hospitality, transport, or a related industry. Experience coordinating projects or business development initiatives. Commercial awareness and understanding of business performance drivers. Excellent organisational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Strong reporting, research, and analytical capabilities. Full New Zealand Driver Licence. Experience and/or understanding working with Māori organisations, trusts, incorporations, iwi entities, or whenua Māori. Knowledge of the Tongariro region and its tourism environment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
