The (Sr.) Design Engineer will be responsible for carrying out the duties of the Engineering department, including design, research, prototyping, engineering documentation, estimating and process improvement. They will also modify existing products or processes to increase efficiency or improve performance. They will work in the office, in a workshop and at customers' premises to ensure best results. Key responsibilities Aligns with and actively supports Amcor values by putting safety first in all situations and acts as a safety leader to others by ensuring that all design work is completed in accordance with safety policies Evaluates and assesses current safety designs and suggests improvements for the benefit of all employees Determines customer's needs by identifying problems and safety concerns, develops and evaluates solutions thereby defining project scope Assembles information and writes and develops procedures for equipment and machine manual Communicates effectively in written and oral form to all stakeholders and breaks down complex solutions to tailor information to the needs and expertise level of stakeholders Conceptualizes written and verbal directions and design criteria into tangible designs and quickly rough sketches complex ideas to create direction towards finalized designs Defines a project's mechanical scope and guides the mechanical design, coordinates the fabrication, installation and startup of assigned projects as needed Leads the effort and process of specifying and releasing requests for vendors that are used to purchase materials and machinery components in the design group Assists with testing and validation of mechanical machine designs and systems and assists with engineering calculations to support mechanical engineering work Reviews technical plans, drawings and specifications for mechanical engineering work About you Associates Degree in Mechanical and or Electrical Design or BS in engineering Machine design experience for production machinery: assemblies and whole machines 10+ years' experience Extensive knowledge of machine design and drafting methods, practices and standards Extensive knowledge of machine shop practices, finishes and geometric tolerancing Expert utilization of 2D/3D Computer Aided Design/Drafting (CAD) systems Extensive knowledge of electrical design and drafting methods, practices and standards #J-18808-Ljbffr
