Job Description
Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey. Machinery, Infrastructure & Orchard Worker A varied, hands-on role for someone who enjoys machinery, outdoor work & keeping things running as they should. We are looking for a practical and reliable person to join our Auckland orchard team. This is not a role where every day looks the same. You could be operating tractors and sprayers, completing orchard work, repairing a fence, helping maintain orchard infrastructure or responding to whatever needs attention to keep the orchards running smoothly. It would suit someone who takes pride in doing a job properly, looks after the machinery and equipment they use, and is comfortable working independently while remaining part of the wider orchard team. What you’ll be doing Your work will include: Operating tractors, Atom sprayers, weed sprayers and other orchard machinery Completing spray applications safely and accurately, including mixing and measuring chemicals and recording applications Carrying out basic machinery maintenance and reporting faults promptly Completing a range of seasonal orchard tasks Helping maintain irrigation systems and orchard infrastructure Undertaking practical repairs, including fencing and minor structure repairs Keeping work areas safe and following all health and safety, food safety and biosecurity requirements Pitching in with other orchard work as priorities, seasons and weather conditions change What we’re looking for You will ideally have: Between one and three years’ experience operating tractors and machinery Experience using tractor implements, with spraying experience being an advantage A current Growsafe certificate, or a willingness to obtain one A full New Zealand driver licence The ability to follow instructions and complete work safely and accurately Confidence with measurements, volumes and basic calculations Good practical judgement, spatial awareness and an understanding of machinery capabilities The physical fitness needed for manual outdoor work in varying weather conditions Knowledge of the Zespri spray programme would be useful, but it is not essential. Just as importantly, we are looking for someone who is dependable, takes initiative and communicates well. You will need to be comfortable changing direction when orchard priorities shift and willing to help wherever needed. Because orchard work is seasonal and weather dependent, some flexibility in working hours is required. This may include early starts, late finishes, and occasional weekend work.
