About the role At Thermo King, you’ll work on innovative diesel and electrically powered transport refrigeration systems, including truck & trailer refrigeration units, bus air conditioning systems, and hydraulic tail lifts. We are currently in an exciting stage of rapid development, into environmentally friendly solutions through electric vehicles and renewable energy solutions. You’ll have the opportunity to engage in both workshop tasks and fieldwork, offering variety and growth in your role. We are looking for motivated individuals with diverse trade skills to support our growing business. Current In-field Service Technician positions are available at our Manukau/Auckland branch. Key responsibilities Perform regular preventative maintenance and servicing of electrical and diesel‑powered transport refrigeration systems Diagnose and repair system faults, including refrigerant leaks, copper and aluminium piping repair, fault finding, and replacement of electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration components Maintain and repair diesel engines Service and repair hydraulic tail lifts and related systems Perform system inspections and complete paperwork for service checklists Install and commission new truck and trailer refrigeration units, including mounting units, fabricating and fitting component bracketry and pipework, and commissioning tasks About you Experienced in a mechanical field, such as diesel/automotive mechanic, auto electrical, electrical work (registered), or similar fitting/mechanical/welding knowledge Previous refrigeration and/or hydraulic system (i.e. tail lift) experience are desirable but not essential Ability to work independently in the field and as part of a team in the workshop Willingness to participate in after‑hours callout roster once fully trained A minimum of 3 years experience in a relevant field is preferable Competitive Pay: Earn between $40 - $50/hr, depending on experience and skill level Full‑time position: 45 hours per week with overtime paid after 40 hours All tools provided: Everything you need is supplied in a custom‑fitted work vehicle Ongoing training and career growth: From basic to advanced product knowledge, we provide all necessary training during working hours to support your professional development Internal certification: Gain formal recognition of your skills through internal certification within Thermo King Corporation Global opportunities: As part of a worldwide leader in transport refrigeration, your skills and training are transferable globally—giving you potential career opportunities in other markets If you’re ready to elevate your career with a global leader in transport refrigeration, we want to hear from you!
