About the Role Sequal Lumber is seeking an Industrial Shift Fitter to perform mechanical maintenance and fault-finding activities within a large-scale manufacturing environment. The role operates on a shift roster and includes weekend work as required. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining plant equipment, responding to breakdowns, and carrying out preventative maintenance activities to support safe and efficient operations. Key Responsibilities Perform routine mechanical maintenance and shutdown maintenance activities. Respond to equipment breakdowns and prioritise repairs to minimise production downtime. Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance on plant and equipment. Diagnose mechanical faults and undertake troubleshooting activities. Install, remove, and maintain bearings and associated components. Maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components. Undertake welding and gas-cutting tasks as required. Comply with workplace health and safety requirements, including Permit to Work procedures where applicable. Complete maintenance records and work orders using maintenance management systems. Minimum Requirements Applicants must have: A recognised trade qualification in Maintenance and Diagnostics, Fitting and Turning, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. A minimum of three years’ relevant post-qualification work experience in industrial mechanical maintenance. Experience working within a manufacturing, industrial processing, or similar production environment. Demonstrated mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills. Experience with bearing installation, removal, and alignment. Experience working on hydraulic and pneumatic systems and associated components. Ability to perform welding and gas-cutting tasks. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a shift-work environment. Desirable Experience Experience in the sawmilling, timber processing, or wood manufacturing industry. Experience working within a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS). The role requires shift work and weekend work as rostered, with a guaranteed minimum of 40 hours per week .
