Whare Tiaki Hauora – East Tamaki, North Island Whare Tiaki Hauora is a kaupapa Maaori health provider based in Taamaki Makaurau. The Opportunity Kia Ora Ake is a locally co-designed tamariki hinengaro (wellbeing) approach for Counties Manukau, delivered as part of the national Mana Ake programme. It's a school-based model that supports the wellbeing of primary and intermediate-aged tamariki, their whaanau, and their schools. We're looking for an experienced Kaiaarahi/Clinical practitioner to join the team. This is a fixed-term, full-time role reporting to our Team Leader. You'll be the key point of contact for a group of partner schools — building strong relationships with kura and their communities, and working alongside your non-clinical colleagues to assess and respond to tamariki and whaanau hinengaro wellbeing needs. Your work will range from whole-of-school and classroom-level programmes through to individual and whaanau-based support. It's a hands-on role. You'll be out working directly with whaanau — kanohi ki te kanohi — not always managing things from behind a desk. You’ll bring real programme design and delivery skills, shaping practical, right-sized responses for each school and whaanau rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach. You won't be doing this alone. You'll have a strong internal team of clinical and cultural experts behind you, plus the wider Kia Ora Ake network of providers and practitioners across the district and nationally. Key Responsibilities Building and maintaining relationships with primary schools, kura, and their communities. Assessing tamariki and whaanau hinengaro wellbeing needs and planning the right response, using the Hua Oranga assessment and care planning approach. Delivering whole-of-school, group, and individual/whaanau-based wellbeing support. Working directly and hands-on with whaanau to understand what's needed and respond in a way that fits their need. Designing and adapting practical, evidence-informed programmes that work in real school and whaanau settings. Acting as the clinical point of contact for Kia Ora Ake queries, and contributing to clinical risk management. Supporting schools to build their own capability to look after tamariki wellbeing. Working in partnership with Mana Whenua i Taamaki Makaurau and across the health, education, and social sectors. Keeping clear, accurate, and confidential client records. What You Will Bring At a minimum, you must: Be an experienced, registered health or social practitioner. Have experience working across health, schools, and education sectors. Have a proven ability to deliver in a varied, complex environment. Be able to analyse a situation and come up with clinically sound, practical solutions. Have proven leadership experience building relationships across agencies and sectors. Have a clear understanding of health inequities affecting tamariki and whaanau, and a commitment to equitable practice. Have a working knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application to your practice. Hold a current, full driver's licence. Other key attributes: A relevant postgraduate qualification. Experience in mental wellbeing service delivery, or working with children and families experiencing mental and emotional distress.
