Ready to step off the tools or take the next step in AV design? If you have spent the last few years installing, commissioning or supporting commercial AV systems and you are often the person identifying what needs to change on the drawings, this is an opportunity to turn that practical knowledge into a design career. Previous commercial AV experience is essential. This is a junior design position, but it is not an entry-level position in the AV industry. About us Vega Global New Zealand is a leading technology integration company delivering audio visual, unified communications and workplace technology solutions across New Zealand and the Pacific. We provide end-to-end design, supply, installation, integration, commissioning and ongoing support for government, education and commercial clients, including some of the most technically demanding AV environments in the country. About the role You’ll join our design team, working alongside our Solutions Architects to produce the design detail and documentation our project teams build from. You’ll be mentored, but we do expect you to already understand how AV systems go together. Day to day, you will: Produce AV schematics, signal flow diagrams, rack elevations, equipment layouts and cable schedules Build bills of materials and system inventories Attend site surveys and translate what you find into practical, buildable designs Interpret client briefs, architectural drawings and consultant specifications Maintain as-built documentation so our service teams are working from the truth. Take part in peer reviews and design quality checks Support project and service teams with design queries during delivery What you’ll bring 2+ years’ hands-on AV industry experience across installation, commissioning, service, technical support or system design Practical understanding of AV signal flow: video distribution, audio systems, control systems and videoconferencing Ability to read and interpret floor plans, reflected ceiling plans and relevant architectural or building-services drawings Genuine attention to detail and pride in your documentation Clear written and verbal communication Ability to organise your work, follow tasks through to completion and raise missing information or delivery risks early Previous experience producing AV documentation is preferred, but training will be provided for strong AV technicians who can demonstrate sound system knowledge, attention to detail and the ability to learn design tools. Highly regarded: Experience producing AV schematics, rack elevations, equipment layouts, cable schedules, bills of materials or as-built documentation Visio and D-Tools experience Exposure to Crestron, BSS, Q-SYS, Biamp, Extron, Dante, Microsoft Teams Rooms or Cisco platforms AutoCAD or Revit experience AVIXA CTS certification, or a genuine interest in working towards it Experience in government or tertiary education environments What we offer A structured pathway from the tools into design, mentored by experienced Solutions Architects Support for AVIXA CTS certification and manufacturer training Auckland CBD office, with options to work out of other Vega offices around the country #J-18808-Ljbffr
