WOF Inspector / Automotive Technician

Sail Auto Service Ltd – East Tamaki, North Island We are seeking an experienced WOF Inspector / Automotive Technician to join the team at Sail Auto Service Ltd in East Tamaki, Auckland. This is a full-time/part-time position offering a rewarding opportunity to work in the automotive trades sector, combining hands‑on technical expertise with WOF inspection responsibilities. You will play a crucial role in ensuring vehicles meet safety and environmental standards whilst providing high-quality automotive maintenance and repair services to our valued customers. This role is based on‑site at our East Tamaki location, where you will be part of a professional and collaborative team. What you'll be doing Carry out Warrant of Fitness (WOF) inspections Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment and technical expertise Performing scheduled maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, brake servicing and suspension work Repairing and replacing automotive components such as engines, transmissions, brakes and steering systems Documenting inspection findings and maintenance work accurately and completely Communicating clearly with customers regarding vehicle condition, required repairs and cost estimates Maintaining a safe and clean working environment in accordance with health and safety regulations What we're looking for Current WOF Inspection Authority (IA) Proven experience as an automotive technician or similar role, ideally with WOF inspection experience Strong technical knowledge of vehicle systems including mechanical, electrical, brake and suspension components Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and workshop technology Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team A commitment to health and safety practices within an automotive workshop environment Valid New Zealand driver's licence What we offer Competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications Modern workshop facilities and quality tools Opportunities for professional development and upskilling in automotive technology A supportive and professional team environment Health and safety commitment ensuring a secure workplace About us Sail Auto Service Ltd is a reputable automotive service provider located in East Tamaki, Auckland.
