About the role We are seeking a Accountant for Transport to join our team at our Wiri, Auckland facility on a full-time basis . This is a pivotal role within our team, where you will play a crucial part in supporting the financial operations of our road transport business. The Accountant for Transport will be responsible for managing accounts specific to our transport operations, ensuring accurate financial invoicing, rating reporting & detailing and keeping to clearly defined weekly & monthly time lines. Key responsibilities Manage and reconcile all transport-related accounts, including fuel costs, vehicle maintenance, and operational expenses , owner driver earnings. You must be able to clearly collaborate with the team to ensure authenticity of charges by suppliers Prepare and maintain & update financial records specific to transport operations and fleet management Conduct variance analysis on transport costs and expenses to identify discrepancies and cost-saving opportunities Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports related to transport operations Monitor and track vehicle-related costs including insurance, registration, and compliance expenses Provide financial analysis and reporting to support management decision-making Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company financial policies What we’re looking for A recognised accounting qualification ( NZCA, or equivalent) Proven experience working as an Accountant, ideally within the transport, logistics, or similar operational environment Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, accounts reconciliation, AR & AP & financial reporting Proficiency with accounting software such as Xero & Approval Max Excellent attention to detail and accuracy with numbers Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and identify trends Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with operational and finance teams Solid understanding of transport and logistics industry practices (preferred but not essential) Knowledge of compliance requirements relevant to the transport sector would be advantageous The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a busy environment What we offer We offer a competitive salary package commensurate with experience and qualifications.
