Dental/Oral Health Therapist, Oral Health Service (Various Opportunities) Dental/Oral Health Therapist, Oral Health Service (Various Opportunities) Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders. About the Role As a Dental/Oral Health Therapist, you'll play a key role in delivering equitable and accessible oral health services to the Tairāwhiti community. No two days are the same – you'll be working alongside a supportive team in a flexible service that allows you to practice in both therapy and hygiene scopes. You’ll be part of a transdisciplinary model of care, walking alongside whānau and providing support where and when it’s needed. You’ll also contribute to a service that is constantly evolving, with a strong focus on continuous improvement, whānau-centred care, and cultural responsiveness. Our Manaaki Tairāwhiti Way of Working involves us working collectively across agencies to enable whānau to flourish. There is a shift to interdisciplinary/transdisciplinary approach, which identifies needs of whānau and the best people to provide support—requesting the right support at the right time in the right place. The workforce shares information, works flexibly and collectively to reduce barriers and provide the support that the whānau needs and requests. The transdisciplinary approach reduces barriers and improves access for whānau as teams walk beside people until they get what they need and are not bound by outdated service definitions, with criteria that reflects service structures rather than the needs of children and whānau. About the Team/Service/Location Our diverse and dedicated Oral Health Service team is driven by a strong sense of purpose and equity. We work collaboratively with agencies and services under the Manaaki Tairāwhiti Way of Working. Based in Gisborne, we’re surrounded by golden beaches, lush farmlands, and a deep connection to Māori culture. About You As a Dental/Oral Health Therapist, you will bring: Current registration (or in the process of registering) with the Dental Council of New Zealand (DCNZ) A strong understanding of the oral health needs of the Tairāwhiti community A commitment to equity, whānau-centred care and culturally safe practice A collaborative approach and willingness to work across teams and disciplines Enthusiasm for innovation, learning, and service development Working at Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
