Cancer Society of New Zealand Wairarapa Centre Incorporated – Wellington, North Island We’re looking for a people person who loves being part of a great team, getting stuck in and making a difference. The Wairarapa Cancer Society Centre is looking for a Centre Support Coordinator to join our team on a fixed-term basis through to June 2027. This is a varied, hands‑on role providing additional support to our existing Centre team during a busy and exciting period. You’ll provide support across Centre administration and reception, transport to treatment, fundraising and events, cancer prevention, donations, Centre operations and general team support. You could be welcoming someone into the Centre, organising a Transport to Treatment booking, helping a volunteer, receipting a donation, organising Centre supplies, coordinating the shade trailer or pitching in behind the scenes on an event. Be part of Relay For Life One of the highlights of this role will be being part of Relay For Life in March 2027 - our biggest fundraising event on the calendar and one of the most special events in the Wairarapa community. Relay For Life brings people from across the Wairarapa together to celebrate, remember and show support for those affected by cancer. From the months of planning and preparation behind the scenes through to the event itself, you’ll be part of the team helping bring this incredible community event to life. What we’re looking for We’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running and provide practical support across a busy community-based Centre. You’ll ideally have: Strong administration and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and keep things moving. Excellent digital capability, including strong Microsoft Office and Excel skills and confidence learning and navigating CRM systems, databases and other digital platforms. Confidence working with people, including clients, whānau, volunteers, donors, community members and suppliers. The ability to work across a varied role, supporting Centre administration, Transport to Treatment, fundraising events, cancer prevention and day‑to‑day Centre operations. Strong communication skills, with the ability to respond professionally and appropriately to a wide range of people and situations. A practical, hands‑on approach, with the initiative to see what needs doing and get stuck in. A genuine people focus and the ability to contribute positively to our small, close-knit team. Reliability and flexibility, with a willingness to support the team and adapt as priorities change. Ideally, experience in administration, customer service, events, community work or a similar environment. A full, current New Zealand driver’s licence. Most importantly, you’ll be someone who cares about people, enjoys being part of a team and takes pride in getting things done.
