Assistant Accountant Finance Team Location: New Zealand (location to be confirmed) Vacancy Number: 61063 Hours: Full-time 40 hours per week, Fixed-Term (15 months) We’re looking for a proactive and detail-orientated accounting professional who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems, and contributing to accurate financial reporting. Join our Finance Team and make a real impact. This position will play a key role in supporting the Bioeconomy Science Institute through a period of organisational transformation and integration. Undertake receivables, revenue accounting, reconciliations and fixed assets accounting. Work closely with the Financial Accountant and wider Finance Team to support accurate month-end reporting and financial controls. What you will be doing | Ngā whāinga matua You will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the finance function. This is a hands‑on role where you will prepare reconciliations, process transactions, maintain financial records, and support month-end reporting activities. Working closely with the Financial Accountant and wider finance team, you will help ensure financial information is accurate, timely, and well supported. Key responsibilities include: Completing end-to-end accounts receivable activities. Preparing revenue journals, accruals and reconciliations. Completing bank and balance sheet reconciliations. Maintaining the fixed asset register and processing asset transactions. Preparing month-end reporting information and audit ready workpapers. Maintaining effective financialcontrols and contributing to process improvement. To be successful in this role, the minimum qualifications required are: A recognised accounting qualification (or currently working towards one) or equivalent relevant accounting experience. Proven experience in accounts receivable, including invoicing, account reconciliation, customer account management, and credit control. Experience with revenue accounting, bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and fixed asset accounting. Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Demonstrated analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a focus on accuracy and continuous improvement. Experience using TechnologyOne or a similar ERP system and intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Strong communication and stakeholder relationship skills with a customer-focused approach.
