The Strategic Initiatives – Team Lead is responsible for driving strategic projects and initiatives from concept to implementation. This role brings to life the Board’s commitment to building better futures through education and training, capturing and maintaining mātauranga Tūwharetoa, and strengthening our marae. DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES Programme Delivery and Monitoring Develop and supervise the delivery of the strategic initiatives workplan. Track progress, identify roadblocks, adjust as required to ensure effective delivery. Manage contractors, partnership arrangements, and stakeholder engagement. Monitor the strategic initiatives communications plan – target, content, timing – adjust as required. Assist with team events, promotions, and engagements. Support an engaged team that’s aligned to the organisational culture. Provide oversight and direction to the team around the objectives of the Trust Board and how the team’s focus aligns to this, empowering employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals. Ensure team members have individual performance plans, monitor performance, and conduct regular appraisals while providing real time performance feedback where necessary. Effectively manage the workflow of the team to ensure productivity and goal expectations are met, while allowing for development. Induct, coach, train and develop staff. Implement the workplan and report on progress against deliverables. Manage the overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities of the role. SKILLS / EXPERIENCE Experience in business administration and/or management. Demonstrated project or programme management experience. Financial management and budgeting capability. Experience working with Tūwharetoa marae, trusts, and organisations. Experience managing a team, contracts, and reporting requirements. Ability to build trusted relationships across whānau, marae, and at governance levels. High level of self-management and initiative.
