Job Description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey. Business Performance and Improvement Lead Turn insight into action. Solve complex problems. Shape how we work. We're looking for a motivated and innovative Business Performance and Improvement Lead to help improve how we work, using insight, evidence and influence to identify issues, support better decisions and drive practical change. This is a newly created role with the opportunity to shape how Council approaches performance, improvement and organisational excellence. About the role As Business Performance and Improvement Lead, you’ll help us understand what’s working, what’s not, and where we can improve. Working with managers and teams, you'll turn performance information, customer feedback, audit findings, risk insights and staff feedback into clear priorities and practical action. This could include service performance measures, customer requests, financial information, complaints, community feedback, employee insights and operational data from across Council. This isn’t a traditional analyst role. While data and insight are important, the real value is in understanding why issues exist, identifying solutions and helping teams embed sustainable change. What you'll be doing Turn priority performance information into clear, trusted insight that helps leaders understand what's driving results and where improvement is needed Identify trends, inefficiencies, recurring issues and root causes Develop and maintain an organisation-wide improvement roadmap Facilitate improvement initiatives that reduce rework, delays, duplication and waste Support smarter use of data, systems and technology to improve services and decision-making Help managers monitor performance, measure outcomes and track the impact of improvement initiatives About you You'll be naturally curious and enjoy understanding how work really happens. You'll likely bring: Experience using performance, operational, financial or customer data to identify issues, solve problems and improve organisational performance Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills The ability to translate complex information into clear recommendations and practical action The ability to influence others and lead change without direct authority Strong communication and relationship-building skills A continuous improvement mindset and passion for achieving better outcomes The confidence to challenge existing ways of working and bring fresh thinking This is a unique opportunity to help establish a new function, work across the whole organisation and influence how we approach performance, improvement and organisational excellence. If you're looking for a role where your insight, curiosity, and ability to influence change can make a lasting difference, we'd love to hear from you. Why Matamata-Piako? Enjoy the best of both worlds —meaningful work with plenty of variety and an exceptional lifestyle. Our district offers a welcoming community, shorter commutes, affordable living, and easy access to Hamilton, Tauranga and Auckland. Most importantly, you'll join a Council where our values are simple: We do it right, we do it better, and we do it together. #J-18808-Ljbffr
