About Alliance Française Wellington Alliance Française Wellington is part of a global non-profit network dedicated to promoting the French language and celebrating Francophone cultures for over 100 years, having been founded by Harold Beauchamp, father of Katherine Mansfield. We are a vibrant community hub offering language instruction, cultural events, and cross-cultural partnerships in the heart of New Zealand’s capital. The Role We are seeking a dynamic, community-minded Director (French speaker) to lead our Wellington team. Reporting directly to the President and Executive Committee, you will drive operational leadership, expand our cultural footprint, and guide our staff in delivering exceptional educational and cultural programming. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management : Recruit, lead, and mentor staff to maintain high standards of teaching and service delivery. Operations & Strategy : Direct daily operations, language classes, and cultural events in alignment with strategic goals discussed with the Committee. Financial & Administration Oversight : Manage day-to-day financial processes, budgeting, and administrative workflows. Community & Partnerships : Serve as the face of AF Wellington by building relationships with local organizations, cultural partners, and French diplomatic entities. Growth : Drive member engagement and retention strategies to expand our community footprint in Wellington. Requirements and qualifications Location and work rights : Must be currently based in Wellington with a valid New Zealand work visa or permanent residency/citizenship Language Skills : French speaker with full professional fluency in English. Leadership Experience : Proven track record in organizational management, staff leadership, or team administration (experience in non-profit, cultural, or educational settings is highly regarded). Communication & Diplomacy : Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong networks across diverse communities.
