Are you a motivated, proactive individual with a passion for large-animal production and leading people? The Taupō Vet Centre is seeking an experienced Lead Large Animal Veterinary Technician who holds a Rural Veterinary Technician Certificate. This senior, hands-on leadership position combines advanced technical work with team leadership, mentoring, and strong client relationships. We are flexible with start date and hours, happy to negotiate 3-5 working days each week depending on your preference. While previous leadership experience would be an advantage, we are also open to considering a motivated and mature technician who demonstrates the judgement, initiative, and people skills needed to grow into a lead role. Equally, if you are an experienced large-animal technician who is interested in the role but unsure whether leadership is the right next step, we'd still welcome a conversation. About the role You will be a technical authority and people leader, responsible for maintaining high standards, supporting veterinarians, and developing the capability of our technician team. Key responsibilities Deliver advanced large-animal technical work, including pregnancy scanning Lead, supervise, and mentor veterinary technicians Coordinate rostering, training, and seasonal resourcing Work alongside veterinarians to support non-clinical client consultations Actively develop leadership and technical capability through CPD and collaboration About you Experienced large-animal veterinary technician Confident leader with strong communication and people skills A proactive, organised approach and commitment to high clinical and service standards.
