Community Development Advisor - Homelessness Christchurch City Council is seeking a dedicated and strategic Homelessness Advisor to play a pivotal role in supporting strong, connected communities and improving outcomes for people experiencing homelessness across our city. As our Homelessness Advisor, you’ll work alongside communities, partners, and people with lived experience to build practical, compassionate solutions that make Christchurch a more connected place for everyone. This is a unique opportunity to influence city‑wide strategy, strengthen partnerships, and ensure Council’s work in this space is coordinated, evidence‑based, and grounded in manaakitanga. About the role | Ko te mahi nei As the Council’s central point of contact for homelessness-related work, you will lead and coordinate Council’s response across multiple teams and business units, while building strong relationships with Rūnanga, community organisations, government agencies, service providers and people with lived experience. You will provide strategic and operational advice, coordinate and contribute to complex homelessness-related projects, identify emerging issues and opportunities, advocate for appropriate resources and help shape a coordinated city‑wide approach to preventing and reducing homelessness in Ōtautahi Christchurch. Salary-The salary band for this position goes from $96,465 to $107,183per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
