Teacher Aide – Experienced (ORS Support) Dawson Primary School – Otara, North Island Dawson Primary School, Otara Dawson Primary is seeking an experienced and dedicated Teacher Aide to join our team. This is a specialised role focused on supporting students with ORS (Ongoing Resourcing Scheme) funding. You will work primarily one-on-one or in a small group to ensure our learners with additional needs can thrive in an inclusive environment. The Details Hours: 8:45 am – 2:45 pm, Monday to Friday (Term time only). Contract: Fixed-term, 25 hours per week, starting on completion of appointment. Remuneration: In line with the NZEI Support Staff Collective Agreement. Key Responsibilities Specialised 1-on-1 Support: Implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Intervention Action Plans for ORS-funded students. Physical & Wellbeing Care: Possibly assisting with personal care (toileting/eating), physical requirements, including exercise routines or emotional regulation. Collaborative Practice: Liaising closely with classroom teachers, families, and external specialist services to monitor and report on student progress. Adaptive Learning: Modifying classroom activities and resources to ensure learning is accessible and engaging for diverse learners. Routine & Behaviour: Supporting students to maintain school routines and using positive behaviour strategies to foster a safe learning environment. What We’re Looking For (Essential) Proven Experience: You must have previous experience working with diverse learners with additional needs in an Early Childhood or Primary setting. ORS Expertise: Comfort and experience working 1-on-1 with students who require high levels of support. Resilience & Patience: The ability to remain calm under pressure and provide comfort to students when they are upset. Communication: Skilled at communicating clearly with children, staff, and external specialists from diverse cultural backgrounds.
