Senior Claims Adviser

Due to some recent changes within our Claims Team, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Claims Adviser to join the Claims Team. This is a newly established position provides a unique opportunity to help shape and influence how we operate. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to and improve our claims workflows and team functions, with a focus on efficiency, consistency, capability and, most importantly, the experience we deliver to our clients. This could be the right next step for an experienced Claims Adviser ready to broaden their influence, or an existing Senior Claims professional looking for an opportunity where your experience can have a wider impact. Your role will include: Managing your own portfolio of claims while providing technical expertise, support and guidance to Claims Advisers. Acting as the first escalation point for complex claims requiring additional oversight due to complexity, vulnerability, financial exposure, reputational risk or client sensitivity. Reviewing coverage, liability, policy interpretation, claim strategy and settlement approaches. Reviewing claims files and providing technical feedback and guidance to improve the quality, consistency and accuracy of claims management and decision-making. Supporting quality assurance, audits and continuous improvement initiatives. Supporting the Claims Manager with workflow, prioritisation and operational decisions. Acting as a delegated technical authority and deputy to the Claims Manager when required. What we are looking for Professionally qualified - Minimum 4 years' experience within the New Zealand Fire and General insurance industry, with significant claims experience. NZCFS Level 5 (V2) qualification desirable , with experience managing complex claims within domestic and commercial claims. Strong Technical skills - Strong technical knowledge and confidence with a sound understanding of policy wordings, coverage, exclusions, endorsements, liability and claims strategy. Client-focused - A strong commitment to client advocacy, empathy and delivering outstanding service. Strong communicator and collaborator - Clear, confident communication with clients, insurers, assessors, loss adjusters, repairers and other industry professionals.
