Earthworks Labourer

Lakeside Earthworks is looking for a reliable, hardworking Labourer to join our small, locally owned team based in Kuratau. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, is practical and hands‑on, and wants to build a career in the earthworks and construction industry. Previous experience is a bonus, but it is not essential—we are happy to train the right person and provide opportunities to learn how to operate machinery over time. About the role The work is varied and may include: General labouring on earthworks and landscaping projects Assisting with driveways, retaining walls, drainage and site preparation Shovelling, raking, compacting and moving materials Assisting with hedge trimming and property maintenance Cleaning and carrying out basic maintenance on machinery and vehicles Loading and unloading tools and materials Supporting the machine operator and helping keep worksites safe and tidy Learning to operate machinery as your skills and confidence develop About you We’re looking for someone who: Is dependable, punctual and willing to work Is physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions Has a positive attitude and is keen to learn Can follow instructions and work safely Can work well as part of a small team and use initiative when required Holds a full New Zealand driver licence Ideally holds a Class 2 licence, although this is not essential Previous experience in earthworks, construction, farming, landscaping or another practical trade would be an advantage, but attitude and reliability are most important.
