About the Role This In-House Legal Counsel position sits within a global, multi-channel commercial services business undergoing structural alignment. Based in New Zealand, you will be the primary in-house legal resource for the local unit and will report directly to the Global Head in Australia. You will deliver end-to-end legal support across day-to-day operations and risk initiatives. Enjoy autonomy within defined parameters to move the business efficiently while maintaining legal controls. Hybrid working with 4 days in the office and 1 day remote. Exposure to international stakeholders and global frameworks. Duties You will take ownership of a broad commercial workload, acting as a key point of contact for legal risk and compliance queries in NZ. You will support broader global governance initiatives while managing external counsel within agreed parameters. Draft and negotiate varied operational commercial contracts. Provide pragmatic advice on property leasing and IP matters. Engage and instruct external legal counsel when required. Skills & Experience This opportunity suits a commercially minded solicitor comfortable working independently in a broad in-house role. You must be a clear, confident communicator with strong commercial judgment, capable of operating autonomously while knowing when to elevate. Admitted solicitor with approximately 5+ years of PQE. Strong background in commercial contracts and advisory work. Autonomous operator with excellent commercial judgment.
