Palmerston North City Council – Palmerston North, North Island $114,382 - $134,567 a year Full time Make a Difference: Help protect community safety and support quality development across Palmerston North. As Team Leader Commercial, you will provide operational and technical leadership to a team of approximately eight people within Building Services. You will help the team deliver responsive, high-quality services that balance customer, Council and regulatory requirements. Working closely with the Team Leader Residential and the Building Services management team, you will promote consistent decision-making, strong regulatory practice and practical solutions for customers. This is a full-time role, 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday. Your focus in this role will include: Providing technical leadership and oversight to support PNCC’s Building Consent Authority regulatory requirements. Leading, coaching and developing team members to achieve high standards of performance and customer service. Overseeing the processing and inspection of commercial building consents. Ensuring relevant legislation, particularly the Building Act, is administered consistently and in line with best practice. Monitoring compliance with building consents and ensuring appropriate enforcement action is taken when required. You will be an experienced building professional who combines strong technical expertise with a practical and supportive leadership style. You can balance regulatory obligations with customer needs, make sound decisions and help others perform at their best. What you will bring: A formal building-related qualification, such as a Trade Certificate in Building, Plumbing or a similar field. Experience and competency in processing and inspecting building consents up to and including Level C3. Demonstrated experience managing or supervising staff. An excellent understanding of relevant building legislation, codes and standards, and their practical application. Strong leadership, coaching and team-development skills. A salary between$114,382 and $134,567, depending on skills, experience and other relevant factors, plus a 3.5% KiwiSaver employer contribution where eligible.
