TalentMax Recruitment – Manurewa, North Island The Fono is seeking an experienced Psychiatrist to join our healthcare team in Manurewa, South Auckland. This is a part-time position offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients' mental health and wellbeing. As a Psychiatrist, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to a diverse patient population, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver evidence-based care. This role is central to our commitment to advancing mental health services in the region. About the Role: Depending on your level of experience, your responsibilities include: Conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments of patients presenting with a range of mental health conditions Formulating accurate diagnoses and developing individualised treatment plans aligned with clinical guidelines and best practice Prescribing and managing psychotropic medications, monitoring efficacy and managing side effects Providing psychotherapy and psychological interventions as appropriate for patient needs Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including psychologists, social workers, nurses and general practitioners to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care Maintaining detailed and accurate clinical documentation and medical records Staying current with developments in psychiatric practice and participating in professional development and training Contributing to the development and implementation of evidence-based protocols and guidelines Providing consultation and advice to other healthcare professionals on complex psychiatric cases Participating in clinical supervision and mentoring of junior medical staff where applicable Contributing to service development, quality improvement, and clinical governance in a public sector / NGO setting For registrars: participating in supervised clinical practice that meets RANZCP training requirements Your choice of 0.2 or 0.4 FTE. Psychiatric Registrars will work under the supervision of an experienced consultant psychiatrist. Psychiatrists will provide clinical leadership, clinical oversight, and support for complex presentations. About You: You will be a skilled clinician who values cultural practice and collaborative care. Psychiatrists(FRANZCP-qualified or nearing completion) with vocational registration, or eligibility for registration, with the Medical Council of New Zealand Psychiatric Registrarsenrolled in, or eligible for enrolment in, the RANZCP psychiatry training program Substantial clinical experience in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and treatment across the lifespan Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology and evidence-based psychiatric interventions Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with patients, families and healthcare colleagues Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and across healthcare settings Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making capabilities in complex and diverse presentations Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of current psychiatric practice Ability to maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to regulatory and ethical standards Preferred: experience working with specific populations such as children and adolescents, older adults, or those with complex trauma or dual diagnosis Pacific language skills and lived experience are an advantage.
