I Kitchen, a busy Chinese restaurant based in Wellington is seeking two full-time Chinese Cuisine Chefs to join the team. With service six days a week, we offer a variety of Chinese dishes prepared with fresh ingredients and traditional cooking techniques, providing our customers with an authentic and enjoyable dining experience. Job Responsibilities: Prepare and cook food using appropriate cooking techniques to deliver dishes to the restaurant’s required standard. Assist with menu planning and develop recipes according to seasonal ingredients and customer demand. Portion food and prepare dishes for serving on plates or in takeaway containers, including adding gravies and sauces as required. Maintain a high standard of food quality and ensure meals are presented to customers in a timely manner. Assist the Head Chef/Manager with checking food stock levels and placing orders with suppliers. Report to the Head Chef and work closely with the Head Chef/Manager on kitchen-related matters. Guide and supervise junior kitchen staff in cooking procedures by sharing your cooking knowledge and experience when required. Prepare dietary meals according to customers’ special requirements. Keep the kitchen clean and tidy and ensure compliance with New Zealand health and hygiene regulations. Monitor the temperatures of frozen and hot food and ensure all food is stored at the correct temperatures. To be successful in this role, you need: At least 2 years of relevant experience OR a Level 4 or above relevant qualification. Be reliable, responsible and able to work well under pressure. Be flexible with working hours, including weekends when required. Be adaptable, safety-conscious and able to work well as part of a team.
