Tauranga Central based | Parental leave cover from mid-November 2026 to December 2027 Are you a hands-on accountant looking for the opportunity to take ownership of month-end reporting, compliance, treasury and financial analysis within a large and dynamic business? We are seeking a Company Accountant to join our Finance team on a fixed term basis. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role offers exposure across all areas of finance and the opportunity to play a key role in supporting the financial operations of one of New Zealand's leading real estate groups. This is a varied and operationally focused accounting role where you'll be responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of month-end reporting, financial compliance, treasury functions and business reporting. You'll work closely with the CFO and wider finance team to ensure our finance processes run smoothly while delivering high quality financial information to support business decision-making. We're looking for someone who enjoys finding smarter ways of working and is excited by the opportunities technology can bring. As a business, we're investing in automation, reporting improvements and AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot to help our teams work more efficiently. You'll also be joining us at an exciting time as we prepare to relocate to a brand-new office space in January 2027. Key responsibilities: Coordinate and prepare the monthly financial close process Review and post month-end journals, accruals, prepayments and adjustments Prepare monthly reporting packs and financial analysis Conduct variance analysis against budget and prior year results Review balance sheet reconciliations and supporting workpapers Prepare GST, FBT and other tax compliance requirements Support external audit processes and liaise with external advisors Monitor cashflow and treasury activities Authorise and review daily payment runs Provide guidance and support to finance team members on accounting processes Identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency About you: 3+ years' experience in a Financial Accountant, Management Accountant or similar role Strong month-end and financial reporting experience Excellent reconciliation and analytical skills Experience preparing GST, FBT and other statutory compliance returns Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail Experience working with Xero The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach Ideally, you will also have: A CA qualification or be working towards CAANZ qualification Experience in a multi-entity or group reporting environment within New Zealand Experience partnering with operational managers and stakeholders Diverse and broad accounting role with exposure across the business Opportunity to work closely with an experienced CFO within a well-established and respected New Zealand organisation Supportive and collaborative team environment that is future focused on automation and AI tools Tauranga based role with a brand new office space in January 2027 Competitive salary package If you're looking for a role where you can broaden your experience, and take ownership of core finance processes, we'd love to hear from you! #J-18808-Ljbffr
