National Transport & Logistics Manager (Tokoroa or Rotorua) Manulife Investment Management Forest Management (NZ) Ltd (MFM (NZ)) is a leading forestry investment and forest management business, delivering sustainable timberland outcomes for our clients. We manage approximately 200,000 hectares of forests across New Zealand and harvest around 3.8 million tonnes of timber annually. Our operations span the Central North Island, Bay of Plenty and Northland, supported by an extensive network of log transport contractors operating across both private forestry roads and the public roading network. The Role An internal move has created this opportunity to lead one of MFM (NZ)'s most important operational functions, moving logs safely and efficiently from forest to customer across New Zealand. Based in either our Tokoroa or Rotorua office, overseeing a geographically dispersed team and an extensive network of log transport contractors, you will be accountable for the safe, efficient and cost-effective delivery of logs to domestic customers, export ports and rail heads. Your focus will include contractor performance, transport capacity, cost management, safety leadership, customer service and continuous improvement. Working across harvesting, commercial, woodflow and operational teams, you will help shape distribution strategy and long‑term supply chain capability. You will also provide clear operational and safety reporting to senior leaders, clients and governance forums. This senior role calls for a visible and engaging leader who can build strong relationships, develop high‑performing teams and drive accountability across a complex contractor‑led operation. It contributes to the broader business strategy as part of the operations leadership team and regularly connects with client representatives, Board of Directors, governance forums and industry groups. What We’re Looking For You will be an experienced senior people leader with deep expertise in distribution, logistics, transport or complex contractor‑led supply chain operations, ideally within large‑scale primary industry or operational environments. You will bring: Proven leadership capability with the ability to lead and develop high‑performing teams Strong commercial and financial acumen across operational environments A track record of delivering health, safety, wellness and environmental outcomes Extensive experience managing complex contractor relationships and service delivery performance Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, both written and verbal The ability to prepare clear operational and safety information for senior leaders, clients and governance forums Most importantly, you will bring a visible, engaging leadership style, with the ability to influence, inspire and deliver results at a national level.
