Set Up Producer (short-term contract)

We’re looking for a sharp, highly motivated Set Up Producer to join The Spinoff team in the lead-up to the election. Working across our video and podcast outputs, this role has a core focus on At Large with Toby Manhire - our new, flagship current affairs show. Working closely with the Executive Producer/Host and Content Producer, you will play a pivotal role in setting up multiple episodes each week. This is a 8-week contract suited to an eager producer, journalist, or researcher who thrives in a fast-paced environment. It is an opportunity to work alongside a creative, supportive team shaping the conversations that matter most during a critical election season. What you’ll bring Deep familiarity with the news agenda, along with sharp editorial judgement. Ability to identify emerging news lines, interview opportunities and fresh editorial angles. A proven track record of pitching, chasing, and securing guest talent on tight deadlines. Experience conducting background research, drafting briefing notes and developing creative interview angles. Highly organised, meticulous with details, and comfortable managing multiple episode setups simultaneously. Ability to respond quickly and effectively to breaking news and changing priorities. Solid understanding of media law, editorial standards, and digital-first storytelling across podcast and video formats. A collaborative, solutions-forward approach.
