Ala Mai Early Childhood Education Whanau Support Service Help shape brighter futures for Pasifika children and whānau AvaNiu Pasifika is looking for a passionate, community-focused professional to lead our Ala Mai Whānau Early Childhood Education Support Service . About the role As the Community Whānau Early Childhood Education Lead, you'll work directly with Pasifika families across Tauranga, Te Puke and Katikati, providing practical support, advocacy and guidance to help children aged 3–4 years access quality early learning opportunities. You'll partner with families, early learning providers, schools and community organisations to create positive outcomes that support children to thrive before they start school. Key responsibilities Building strong, trusting relationships with Pasifika families and identifying barriers to early learning participation. Developing individualised family support plans that promote positive educational outcomes. Supporting whānau to enrol children in quality early learning services, including ECE centres, Kōhanga Reo, home-based education or family-led learning programmes. Coordinating referrals to health, education and social service providers. Working collaboratively with ECE centres to support successful transitions into early learning. Facilitating culturally responsive workshops that promote the importance of early childhood education. Developing home-based learning resources and learning stories for children. Supporting families to access B4 School Checks and other essential services. Maintaining accurate client records and reporting through organisational systems. Working collaboratively with colleagues and community partners to deliver positive outcomes for families. About you We're looking for someone who is passionate about working alongside families and making a meaningful difference in the community. You'll ideally have: A minimum Level 5 qualification in Education, Health, Social Services or a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education). Experience in community engagement, whānau support, case management or family‑centred services. An understanding of the importance of early childhood education and its lifelong impact. Experience working with Pasifika, Māori and culturally diverse communities (highly desirable). Excellent communication, relationship‑building and problem‑solving skills. Strong organisational and administrative skills, including confidence using databases and Microsoft Office. A full, clean New Zealand Driver Licence.
