Autolathing Engineering Ltd – North Shore, North Island Autolathing Engineering Ltd is seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Programmer / Operator to join our team in Wairau Valley, Auckland. This is a full-time position that combines both programming expertise and hands‑on machining experience. You will play a crucial role in our manufacturing operations, responsible for programming and operating our CNC lathes to produce precision components to exacting specifications. This position is integral to maintaining our reputation for quality and efficiency in the engineering and manufacturing sector. Key responsibilities Program CNC lathes using CAM software and manual programming techniques to produce components from technical drawings and specifications Set up and operate CNC lathe equipment, ensuring all tooling, fixtures and work-holding devices are correctly installed and calibrated Monitor machine operations during production runs to ensure quality standards are met and identify any issues or deviations Perform regular quality checks and measurements using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometres and gauges Maintain detailed records of production runs, machine parameters and any adjustments made during the manufacturing process Troubleshoot and resolve programming and operational issues to minimise downtime and maintain production schedules Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of CNC lathe equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity Collaborate with engineering and production teams to continuously improve machining processes and efficiency Adhere to all health and safety regulations and maintain a clean, organised work environment What we're looking for Proven experience operating and programming CNC lathes with live tooling in a manufacturing or engineering environment Strong proficiency in CAM software packages such as Gibbscam, or equivalent programming tools Solid understanding of G-code and M-code programming languages Competency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and engineering specifications Experience with precision measurement tools and quality control procedures Sound mechanical knowledge and understanding of metalworking principles and lathe tooling Ability to work independently whilst maintaining communication with team members and supervisors Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality components Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing production requirements Relevant qualifications such as NZ qualifications in machining, engineering or CNC operation are highly desirable What we offer Autolathing Engineering Ltd provides a competitive package that recognises the skill and expertise our team members bring to the business.
