Job Description
Orca Engineering and Marine Ltd – Mangakakahi, North Island ORCA Engineering and Marine is a light sheet metal engineering workshop based in Rotorua working with aluminium, stainless and mild steel. We are looking for a competent CAD Designer / Draftsperson to join our team. Your primary role will be drafting one-off and "same-but-different" customized projects in preparation for cut and fold on a CNC waterjet and CNC press brake, ensuring the completed product meets the applicable specification, tolerances, finish and customer expectations. The role has a customer-facing element and includes preparing customer quotations and customer communication. Key responsibilities Draft one-off and customized projects for CNC waterjet and CNC press brake preparation Ensure completed products meet applicable specification, tolerances, finish and customer expectations Prepare customer quotations Manage customer communication Convert physical parts to 3D models Translate customer ideas to workable drawings Manage CAD files and revision control About you At least 2 years' experience as a CAD Designer / Draftsperson Mechanical engineering degree or related technical qualifications Sound understanding of sheet and metal components fabrication processes Design experience with SolidWorks sheet metal, drawings, and assemblies Adept at CAD file management/organisation and revision control Ability to accurately convert a physical part to a 3D model Creativity to translate a customer idea to a workable drawing Effective time management and ability to work to deadlines Excellent communication skills and experience with customer relations Proficient in Microsoft Office NZ residency or valid NZ work visa required About us ORCA Engineering and Marine is a light sheet metal engineering workshop based in Rotorua.
