Job Description

Hōhepa is a disability support service inHawke’s Bay for people with intellectual disabilities. These people are full oflife, and you will be helping them to reach their potential! We operate a special school, residentialhomes, day activities, and a wide range of enterprises, including artisancheese making, and a small farm. As a special character organisation, based onAnthroposophical principles, our vision is He oranga tū, Hei oranga waiora(‘every life fully lived’). Join us as the Estate Team Leader (managing ground maintenance across our sites). You willbe leading a small team of Estate Support Workers, working across our groundsalongside the people we support. We are looking for an experienced andpeople-oriented leader, who has a strong understanding of groundskeeping,horticulture and land management. Organic farming or organic horticultureexperience would also be beneficial. You will have a full driver's licence and be very comfortable driving a truck – both manual and automatic. This is a full-time positiong working 40hours over 5days per week. Primarily this role is about coordinating theEstate operations and staff to enable people with intellectual disabilities tomeaningfully contribute to operational goals. Thisrole will work very closely with the Land Manager to ensure a sustainable andcollaborative approach, that also aligns Estate operations with our sharedHōhepa goals and values. You will be joining a community and working alongside thepeople we support who have intellectual disabilities – so an understanding ofthis will be advantageous. To be effective in the role you will: Be able todisplay empathy and respect. Have exceptionalcommunication skills, and be able to collaborate with others Have excellentorganisational skills to plan and deliver work across diverse Hohepa sites Be able tolead, motivate and empower teams Be trustworthywith high ethical standards, able to respect confidentiality and privacy. Be drug free,and able to meet background check requirements (reference and policevetting report checks).
