We are seeking a reliable and professional Security Officer to help maintain a safe, respectful, and secure learning environment for our students, staff, and visitors as well as protecting school assets and property. This role is ideal for someone who is approachable, observant, and confident working within a busy secondary school setting. The successful candidate will work closely with school leadership and the property department to support the wellbeing and safety of our school community and respond appropriately to incidents when required. Key Responsibilities Monitor school grounds and buildings to ensure safety and security Monitor entrances and access to the school grounds Assist in maintaining a safe and positive school environment Respond promptly to incidents, emergencies, suspicious behaviour and safety concerns Support staff with conflict resolution and de-escalation situations Assist with lockdown, evacuation, and emergency procedures Help enforce school safety procedures and policies Identify opportunities to improve security operations Prepare incident reports and maintain accurate records Assist during school events, assemblies, sports fixtures, and after-hours activities as required Liaise with school leadership and emergency services as needed Skills & Experience Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to remain calm, professional and confident under pressure Ability to work independently and as part of a team Good judgement and conflict management abilities Good observational and problem-solving abilities Experience with alarm response, patrol operations, and CCTV systems Physically fit and able to patrol large school grounds Flexible and adaptable to changing requirements Good computer and reporting skills Current security licence/certification is preferred First Aid certification advantageous Full, clean, NZ drivers licence Previous experience in security, community safety or a similar role is essential Commitment to child safety and professional conduct This is a permanent, term time only position working 40 hours per week, between 7:45am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, some flexibility is essential.
