Te Haeata | The Opportunity As a Court Registry Officer, you will work with a team responsible for the successful operation of the Court. You will liaise with multiple stakeholders, including defendants, witnesses, family members, Lawyers, and Police Officers. You will be able to communicate confidently with Judges within the courtroom and their chambers, as well as other members of the judiciary. Your primary responsibilities will include: Court Taking – You will help facilitate the smooth operation of the Court, including introducing Judges and other judicial officers (in English and Te Reo Māori), working closely with them in the Courtroom and Chambers, managing jurors, and general administration of the Court. Case Management – This involves ensuring that files are accurate and up to date, and that all case parties, including the judiciary, have all the information they need. This part of the role involves a large component of data entry, as well as coordinating to ensure cases are scheduled and heard in a timely manner. Customer Service - All courts have an onsite customer service area or hub that customers can access for any court-related matter. You will work to answer customer queries via face-to-face, phone, or email interactions. You will be able to demonstrate strong customer service skills, quality decision-making, be solutions-focused and have the personal confidence and resilience to adapt to a dynamic work environment. To be successful, you will need to be: Detail-orientated and observant – maintains a high level of accuracy and professionalism when working to tight deadlines or under high workload demands Self-aware and collaborative – confident working independently and as part of a team, with awareness and sensitivity to diverse situations and people. Effective multi-tasker – capable of managing several tasks or responsibilities simultaneously without compromising attention to detail Adaptable and resilient – comfortable working in a fast-changing environment, able to pivot quickly between tasks, manage high volumes of sensitive information, and stay composed under pressure. Proactive and solutions-focused – uses initiative to identify and resolve issues early, while maintaining professionalism and sound judgement.
