About the Role We have an excitingopportunity for a Social Worker- Māori Clinician to join our ForensicInpatient Unit on a permanent basis in Porirua. Why Join Us? There are two components of thisexciting role:The Māori Clinician and the Social Worker. Both aspectsreport operationally to the Team Leader and are situated within the Rangipapaenvironment. The social worker aspect isprofessionally accountable to the Professional Leader for Social Work (MentalHealth). The social worker is expectedto work with all whaiora within the Rangipapa environment. The Māori Clinician will be expected to beproficient in or committed to developing, the knowledge base in Tikanga and TeReo Māori. The Māori Clinician will be arole model and provide sound clinical and cultural considerations in themultidisciplinary team process. The salary rangefor this role is Step 3 -7: $90843-$110290depending on experience. About theTeam/Service/ Location Purehurehu and Rangipapa are central regionaladult medium secure forensic units operating as a 24 hour service at RatongaRua hospital campus. There are two medium secure forensic inpatient units,Purehurehu - a 19 bed male unit, and Rangipapa - a 15 bed mixed gender unitplus two detached cottages (one four bed and one 5 bed). Adult Forensic InpatientServices function with a multi-disciplinary team including psychiatrists andother medical staff, psychologists, nurses, occupational therapists, socialworkers and administration staff. We are managed by a Team Leader. About you Enthusiastic, energetic, and motivatedto contribute meaningfully. Possesses basic group facilitation andproblem-solving skills. Experience in mental health or relatedsettings is an advantage. Demonstrates ongoing personal andprofessional development. Able to set aside personal values tosupport the needs and beliefs of others respectfully. Previous experience in working alongside mentalhealth consumers and disability consumers in a public sector healthsetting would be desirable. Genuine interest in working alongsidāngata whaiora in mental health settings. Sound knowledge of tikanga Māoriand the ability toapply this in practice.
