Job Description
Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey. Here at BNZ, it's about more than just banking. We work together in an agile, energising environment to create innovative solutions through our promise "If you can imagine a better future, let's find a way." We support wellbeing, flexible working and have a generous leave offering. There is the opportunity for growth, learning and career development. No two days are the same. This is a rare senior lending opportunity for an experienced commercial property professional to make a real impact across the Queenstown and wider Otago market. As a trusted advisor to our Property Finance clients, you’ll work alongside a diverse portfolio of developers, investors, and property professionals — helping shape quality lending outcomes while balancing strong client relationships, commercial performance, and risk management. What are the key day-to-day tasks the person in this role will complete? Manage and grow a portfolio of client groups with a focus on quality asset growth, balance sheet optimisation, deposit growth, ancillary revenue and accretive portfolio returns. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, prospects, intermediaries, and market advocates to deepen BNZ’s property market presence across the region. Develop and execute a clear prospecting strategy, supported by regular time in market and a compelling client value proposition. Originate and execute quality property investment, development, residual stock, land, social housing, and green transaction opportunities. Lead high-quality credit applications and submissions that demonstrate strong commercial thinking, clear structure, and prudent risk management. Contribute to a high-performing team culture by sharing insights, presenting training, coaching colleagues, and demonstrating wider leadership. What attributes will this person have in order to be successful? To thrive in this role, you’ll bring deep commercial property expertise and the confidence to apply sound judgement across more complex lending decisions. You’ll have a strong understanding of commercial property lending across investment, development, residual stock, land, and related transaction structures, with the ability to identify quality opportunities and shape strong client outcomes. You’ll be comfortable operating in market, building trusted networks, and leading high-quality lending conversations from opportunity through to execution. Ideally, you’ll already have established relationships across the property sector and be able to build credibility with clients, intermediaries, and internal stakeholders, while maintaining a strong focus on portfolio quality, conduct, compliance, and prudent risk management. What is the most exciting thing about this opportunity? This is one of the most distinctive opportunities within our Property Finance team. Based in Queenstown, you’ll have the chance to work across a broad and varied client base throughout the wider Otago region, with regular time in market. For those interested in future leadership, roles like this can also provide a strong pathway into people leadership, offering the opportunity to build influence, share expertise, and contribute to the development of others across the team. What is the team culture and environment like? The environment is highly autonomous, giving you the space to make decisions and own your portfolio, while knowing you have an experienced and supportive leader available when you need guidance, perspective, or backup.
