About this role: We have an opportunity for a Senior Property Advisor to join our Strategic Property team. This is an exciting role looking after the acquisition and disposal of Council land, working with landowners, developers, and Council staff to consider Council’s future land needs. The role will work with other senior staff to consider Council’s existing landholdings and ways to maximise returns, whilst also meeting our community needs and Council’s strategic objectives. There is a broad range of projects available. You’ll have the opportunity to use your excellent property experience to develop innovative solutions to complex situations. What will I do? Drive property projects including acquisitions, disposals, developments, legalisation initiatives and due diligence activities. Provide expert property advice and recommendations that support sound decision making and Council objectives. Prepare reports, business cases and briefings outlining property issues, opportunities, risks and options. Collaborate across Council functions including legal, finance, planning, engineering and asset teams to determine options and develop effective solutions to deliver successful outcomes. Lead or support negotiations with landowners, developers, agencies and other stakeholders. Drive continuous improvement across property systems, processes and portfolio management practices. What will I bring? Relevant tertiary qualification in Property, Valuation, Land Economics, Planning, Law, Commerce or a related discipline. Minimum 5 to 6 years' experience across some or all of the disciplines, being; property management, acquisitions, disposals, leasing, asset management or property advisory. Strong understanding of property legislation including the Local Government Act 1974 and 2002, Public Works Act 1981 and Reserves Act 1977. Strong commercial, analytical and report writing skills. Proven ability to build effective relationships with landowners, developers, iwi, consultants, agencies and community stakeholders. Why join our team?
