Field Officer (Trade Union)

We are looking for a Field Officer to join our Kirikiriroa based team. You will report to a Lead Organiser and your role includes travelling around the region visiting your assigned worksites and/or member groups (usually three days a week), planning for regular contact, visibility and development for your assigned worksites and/or member groups, implementing campaign and sector strategies to achieve union goals in your region, and identifying, development and coaching of member leaders. The team is based in the Hamilton office on Mondays and Fridays to plan out the week's mahi and to review progress with the Lead Organiser. On other days, field officers are out and about working with member leaders, attending hui with member groups and encouraging people to connect with our current campaigns. This role involves a lot of relationship building and one-to-one conversations that build confidence with members and member leaders to advocate for themselves. You need to be a strong listener, one who can sit in conversations, finding the common ground for workers to work together for change in their profession. Our field officers are not leading the charge for change – they are growing and developing union members who want to improve their working conditions.
