About the Role We're looking for Public Transport Security Officers to join our Christchurch team, supporting the public transport network and helping create a safe and welcoming environment for passengers and the wider community. This is a people-focused role where no two days are the same. You'll engage with passengers, provide assistance when needed, deter anti-social behaviour, and help de-escalate incidents through strong communication and professionalism. Duties: Patrolling and monitoring public transport services and facilities Providing security assistance and support to passengers Building positive relationships with the community and stakeholders Deterring anti-social behaviour and promoting a safe environment Responding to incidents and de-escalating situations professionally Completing incident reports and maintaining accurate records Working closely with team members and transport operators What you'll need: Previous experience in security, frontline customer service, or a similar role Excellent communication and interpersonal skills A strong focus on customer service and community engagement Good level of fitness and ability to work in a dynamic environment Flexibility to work across a 7-day rotating roster, including weekends, between the hours of 7am and midnight Be 18 years or older NZ or Australian citizenship, or a valid NZ work visa A current Certificate of Approval (COA) is required Why work with FIRST Security: Guaranteed 18 hours per week minimum Pay rate starting at $28.95 per hour Permanent part time opportunity Full and ongoing training provided Opportunity to make a positive impact in your local community Supportive team environment with ongoing development opportunities Access to the FIRST Security 'Perks' programme with discounts on retail, fuel, and groceries Strong focus on training, development, and career progression Ongoing welfare checks and a positive health & safety culture Access to EAP services, including counselling and financial support for you and your family Ready to make a difference?
