Are you starting your career in IT and looking for an opportunity to build practical, hands-on experience in a real-world business environment? New Zealand King Salmon is looking for an IT Operations Assistant to join our ICT team on a three-month fixed-term basis. This role would suit a recent graduate, final-year IT student, or someone early in their technology career who is keen to develop practical experience across IT operations, endpoint deployment, asset management and user support. The initial focus of the role will be supporting our workstation lifecycle refresh programme, replacing laptops, desktops and specialist workstations across the business. You’ll also assist with a range of day-to-day ICT operational activities and gain exposure to the systems and processes involved in supporting a modern business environment. Full-time availability is preferred, however part-time arrangements may be considered for the right candidate What you’ll be doing Prepare and provision laptops, desktops and other end-user equipment Assist with workstation deployments and device replacements Coordinate deployment times with users and support them through device handover Recover and process replaced equipment Maintain accurate ICT asset and equipment records Label, organise and stocktake ICT equipment Securely wipe and sanitise retired devices and storage media Prepare equipment for reuse, recycling or approved disposal Assist with e-waste and technology asset disposal processes Troubleshoot basic hardware, software and peripheral issues associated with deployments Assist with ICT documentation and repeatable operational processes Support other suitable entry-level ICT activities and projects as required You’ll receive technical guidance and support from experienced members of the ICT team. What we’re looking for We’re looking for someone who is practical, organised and keen to learn. You may be a recent graduate, final-year student, or someone looking to take the first step into an IT career. Ideally, you will have: A qualification, or be working towards a qualification, in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computing or a related field A good working knowledge of Windows PCs, laptops and common business technology Confidence working with computer hardware and peripherals Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records Good communication skills and confidence working with people across the business The ability to follow documented processes and work safely and methodically A willingness to learn, ask questions and seek guidance when required A reliable, practical and positive approach to work Experience with Microsoft 365, Microsoft Intune, Windows Autopilot, Entra ID, Active Directory, IT service management tools or asset management systems would be an advantage, but is not essential.
