The Role We are looking for a Head of Maintenance to lead our New Zealand maintenance operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft maintenance services. Reporting to the Executive General Manager - Engineering, you'll play a critical role in delivering outstanding customer outcomes while driving operational performance, safety, and continuous improvement. You will need to provide strategic and operational leadership while ensuring maintenance activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements. You'll oversee maintenance conducted under Part 145 approvals and work closely with customers, regulators, and internal stakeholders to ensure exceptional service delivery. This role is based in Ardmore, Auckland and will involve occasional travel to other operational locations (National and International). Key Responsibilities Lead and oversee maintenance operations across Salus Aviation's New Zealand bases and international engineering opportunities. Demonstrated Aviation Safety leadership to drive compliance and safety throughout the department Drive operational efficiency, service quality, throughput, and customer satisfaction. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory approvals and airworthiness standards. Provide leadership, coaching, and development to maintenance leaders and their teams. Manage budgets, labour utilisation, and operational performance. Partner with Sales, Commercial, Supply Chain, Safety & Compliance and Engineering teams to achieve business objectives. Develop maintenance plans and support strategic growth initiatives. Foster and champion a strong safety culture and continuous improvement mindset. Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and industry stakeholders. About You To be successful in this role, you will bring: 10+ years' experience in an aviation engineering maintenance environment. Strong knowledge of aviation maintenance regulatory requirements, including NZCAA and ideally FAA and EASA frameworks. At least 5 years' experience leading engineering or maintenance teams in a management capacity. Proven experience with Aviation Safety & Compliance within an Engineering operation Proven experience managing budgets, operational performance, and business outcomes. Demonstrated success in developing high-performing teams and building strong workplace cultures. Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and customer relationship skills. Strong commercial awareness and the ability to balance customer expectations with operational requirements. A passion for safety, compliance, and continuous improvement. Why Join Salus Aviation?
