About the Role Nelson Hospital is seeking three committedand experienced Intensive Care Anaesthetists to join our high-performingmultidisciplinary team. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide specialistcare across theatre and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) within a secondary hospitalserving the top of the South Island. The role includes management of criticallyunwell patients, provision of elective and acute anaesthesia services, andparticipation in the on-call roster. This position offers a stimulating mix ofclinical acuity, procedural variety, and continuity of care within a supportiveand collegial environment. Join a team of 2 Anaesthetists with Intensive Careskills and 2 Intensivists. Participate in an Intensive Care daytime roster andan Intensive Care after-hours 1:7 on call. Respond swiftly and effectively to emergencysituation and provide expert medical care to critical patients in the ICU. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to developand implement comprehensive treatment plans. Our ICU is working towards CICM level 2ICU accreditation. About theTeam/Service/ Location The Anaesthesia and Intensive Care service provides comprehensiveperioperative and critical care to a diverse regional population. The ICU is amodern, well-equipped unit managing a broad case mix, including the diagnosisand treatment of patients with acute, severe, and life-threatening conditions aswell as the provision of complex post-operative care. The Anaesthesia service supports other departments includingObstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopaedics,Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Dental, Mental Health, and the Emergencydepartment. The service also offers anaesthesia for visiting subspecialtysurgeons in Paediatric Surgery, Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery, Plastics, andMaxillofacial Surgery. The service is supported by a multidisciplinary team committed todelivering safe, patient-centred care and achieving high-quality outcomes forcritically unwell patients. Haveessential senior experience in providing Intensive Care for patients withacute, severe, and life-threatening conditions. BeAnaesthetist with intensive care expertise, however, all Medical Specialistswith Intensive care experience will also be considered. Beeligible for an Annual Practicing Certificate with vocational scope inAnaesthesia or relevant vocational scope with the Medical Council of NewZealand.
