Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey. Location: Shop 4/100 Tory Street, Te Aro, Wellington 6011 Position: Full-Time, Chef de Partie Establishment: Fine-dining Syrian Restaurant (MICHELIN Selected) About Us From our humble beginnings as a local market food stall to our permanent home on Tory Street, Damascus is a celebration of fused cultures, family-friendly vibes, and heirloom Syrian recipes passed down through generations. Recently recognized as a MICHELIN Selected restaurant, we are immensely proud of our passionate, tight-knit kitchen team. We operate a beautiful, intimate 50-seat venue centred around Middle Eastern sharing plates. We are now looking for an adaptable, high-energy Chef de Partie to join our family. The Role As a Chef de Partie at Damascus, you won’t be boxed into just one corner of the kitchen. We run a collaborative, dynamic back-of-house where chefs work across multiple stations—from mastering the hot grill to perfecting our famous dips, handmade bread, and complex desserts. You will work closely with our Head Chef and operators to deliver consistently excellent food in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities All-Rounder Station Execution: Confidently step into any section of the kitchen (grill, larder, prep, or plating) based on service needs. Maintain Culinary Standards: Execute authentic Syrian sharing plates and specialized dishes precisely according to our established flavor profiles. Kitchen Efficiency: Manage prep lists, ensure peak efficiency during busy dinner services, and minimize food waste. Leadership & Support: Guide and support junior chefs to maintain a positive, cooperative kitchen culture. Hygiene & Safety: Upkeep immaculate hygiene, food handling, and food safety practices across all workstations. What We Are Looking For Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as a Demi-CDP or CDP in a busy, high-quality restaurant environment. Versatility: A true generalist who loves variety and is eager to learn unique Syrian cooking techniques, spice profiles, and heirloom recipes. Team-First Attitude: Reliability, great communication, and a calm demeanor when the dinner rush hits. Rights to Work: Valid New Zealand working rights or an open work visa. Why Work With Us? A Proud Culinary Legacy: Work alongside a recognized, passionate team in a MICHELIN-highlighted kitchen. Great Work-Life Balance: Our restaurant is closed Mondays, Tuesdays, and Sundays—giving you consistent, predictable days off to recharge. Fulfilling Environment: Join a workplace that genuinely treats staff like family, values creative input, and loves showing love through food. #J-18808-Ljbffr
