About the role This is a parental leave role starting now until end of August 2027. The Women and Girls Lead will represent the Canterbury Rugby Union (CRU) to lead, promote, and develop involvement in rugby for Womens and Girls in Canterbury. Working in alignment with current strategy this role will build relationships across networks, both Clubs and Schools, and is responsible for the growth of female player registrations. The role will introduce new opportunities for Women and Girls, including those new to rugby, including non-contact options and design and implement programmes to introduce rugby to these participants. Working with the CRU Game Development team to implement development programmes including the provision of resources related to skill development and game awareness. Key responsibilities Implement CRU strategy to grow women in rugby across Canterbury working proactively with CRU team members and volunteer stakeholders on initiatives to integrate women into the game of Rugby in all areas Develop relationships across the province to build a network to support the growth and development of opportunities for women and girls Work with the CRU Game Development team to provide training and support to new and existing female players and coaches of women's teams Lead the delivery of initiatives such as Contact ready to provide safe entry points to the game for new players Assist with all aspects of the delivery for events such as Canterbury Schools, Females Competitions, Secondary Schools 7's and Festival Opportunities Canterbury Secondary Schools, CRU Women's 7's and 15's representative teams Lead, promote and facilitate opportunities for Women and Girls in all forms of the game including alternative formats such as Rippa, 7's, and T1 Promote and develop female rugby in clubs, primary and secondary schools, with a focus on events and competitions that are fun and engaging Develop methods and initiatives to retain existing players Develop annual operational plans Be involved in specific targeted initiatives such as NZR funded programmes About you Be a positive role model to those playing or considering playing the game Possess a sound knowledge of rugby and rugby development Meet and interact regularly with other Coach Educators/Women's Development Officers Above all else, you will possess a strong work ethicanda be team player – showing initiativeandreadiness to get stuck inandget the job done when required.
