The Opportunity This is a senior leadership role for a Certified Drainlayer who can manage both the business and the delivery. We’re looking for a well-rounded drainage professional who thrives in both the office and on-site, bringing confidence across project planning, client engagement, and hands‑on delivery. You will be responsible for managing the commercial, operational and technical performance of our civil division while maintaining direct oversight of day‑to‑day project delivery. Working closely with clients, councils, consultants and operational teams, you will lead projects from initial enquiry and pricing through to completion, ensuring works are delivered safely, profitably and to a high standard. What You’ll Be Doing Leading and growing the Northland Civil Division. Managing drainage and civil construction projects from pricing through to completion. Directly overseeing day‑to‑day project delivery. Managing supervisors, crews, plant and subcontractors. Scoping, estimating and pricing projects. Managing project budgets, forecasting and profitability. Pricing and negotiating variations. Building and maintaining strong client relationships. Identifying and securing new work opportunities. Acting as the Certified Drainlayer for civil and drainage works. Ensuring all works are completed safely, on time, on budget and to specification. Coaching, mentoring and developing field teams. What We’re Looking For Proven experience delivering civil construction and drainage projects. Experience managing people, programmes and budgets. Strong estimating and pricing capability. Commercial awareness and business acumen. Ability to build strong client relationships. Experience working with councils, utilities or infrastructure clients. Full Class 1 Driver Licence. WTR, Class 2–5 or Traffic Management qualifications advantageous. About You You are an experienced Certified Drainlayer who has progressed into project and people management and enjoys working across both the office and the field. You understand how to price work, manage risk, forecast workload, build teams and maintain client relationships, but you also enjoy getting out on site, supporting crews and solving problems.
