The Job Are you passionate about learning a trade and beginning a career in the construction industry? Apprentices are a key part of our team. Working under the direction and guidance of experienced Foreman you will support the construction of various projects and achieve the skills and experience to become a fully qualified Carpenter. The main work location is Wanaka and surrounds, however from time to time you may be required to work in other areas of Otago. About you Confident communicator and able to deal with problems Good numeracy and literacy skills Able to understand and follow instructions Must have a Health and Safety mindset Able to work as part of a team, but also independently when required Able to be flexible in work activities, location and hours of work Personable and comfortable in dealing with new people including clients, tradesmen, and other colleagues Be conscientious and diligent and show attention to detail Can take initiative and complete required learning for your apprenticeship and work to deadlines Flexibility to work away from home from time to time in order to complete construction projects Duties Uphold the company's reputation for safety, quality, provision of sound professional advice and fair dealing. Carry out the duties as given to you by other senior qualified Carpenters and Foremen onsite to the best of your ability. Take an active role in learning the skills required to get you into a position of being competent in specific new tasks as they evolve. Adhere to any instructions given to you for the learning and assessment of theory and practical skills by your BCITO training advisor.
