Mō te tūruanga | About the role Reporting to one of our CME Team Leaders you will provide technical support and quality control for the Regional Compliance Manager and to the wider compliance section with regards to all RMA compliance, monitoring and enforcement (CME) functions pertaining to Land Use To ensure a consistent and best practise approach to land use activity authorisations sought from this organisation. This will include proactive engagement within Council and in the land use industry to ensure best practice and statutory requirements are being consistently met, to the highest standard, as it relates to land use. You will bring deep senior-level regulatory, with a proven record of implementing compliance, monitoring and enforcement functions in complex operating environments. You will be confident applying the Resource Management Act and providing expert guidance on land use compliance, including erosion and sediment control, construction methodologies and New Zealand industry best practice. You will have the judgement and political awareness to work constructively on sensitive and confidential matters, including with cultural awareness and respect for Te Tiriti o Waitangi, tangata whenua partnerships and te ao Māori in a local government context. You will be a clear and credible communicator who can explain complex regulatory matters, influence effectively, and train and mentor others to lift capability and consistency. You will be highly organised, accurate and resilient, able to maintain strong attention to detail and sound decision-making while working under time pressure and in challenging physical environments. You will be comfortable using modern systems and tools, including the Microsoft suite, to support quality documentation, reporting and collaboration. Degree in environmental planning, resource management, law, or physical or environmental sciences or related post graduate qualification. No less than 15 years’ operational experience in regulatory or enforcement agencies with no less than five years in senior roles associated with implementation of regulatory compliance. Applied experience working with the Resource Management Act, including intricate knowledge of compliance, monitoring and enforcement, alongside erosion and sediment control, construction methodologies and New Zealand industry best practice standards. Previous experience in land use or development industry sector. Previous experience in developing and leading training. Previous experience in a local government role. Recent experience working with iwi, hapū or marae. Full NZ Drivers Licence Mō te tīma | About the team Reporting to the Team Leader CME 4 – Land Use, your role supports the team with Land use activity authorisations sought from this organisation. The Land Use Team is set up with a Team Leader, Principal Advisor – Land Use, and Compliance Officers and deliver compliance, monitoring and enforcement (CME) regulatory functions, to best practise standards, across assigned regulated parties. These parties being at the more complex and diverse range of industries and activities regulated.
