We are seeking a skilled and reliable Painter to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing surfaces, applying paints and protective coatings, and delivering high-quality finishes across residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Key Responsibilities Prepare interior and exterior surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, filling cracks and holes, and removing old paint or wallpaper. Select and prepare paints, stains, varnishes, and other coating materials by mixing colours and textures to achieve the required finish. Apply paints, varnishes, stains, lacquers, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment. Hang wallpaper, vinyl wall coverings, and decorative finishes where required. Protect surrounding areas with drop sheets, masking tape, and other protective materials before commencing work. Erect and work safely from ladders, scaffolding, and elevated work platforms as required. Inspect completed work to ensure a high-quality finish and carry out touch-ups where necessary. Clean, maintain, and store painting tools and equipment. Follow workplace health and safety procedures and comply with relevant building standards. Communicate effectively with supervisors, clients, and other tradespeople to ensure projects are completed on time and to specification. Skills and Experience A relevant qualification (NZQF Level 4 or equivalent) or at least 2 years of relevant work experience. Sound knowledge of surface preparation techniques, paint products, and application methods. Experience using painting tools, spray equipment, and access equipment safely. Ability to read and interpret job specifications and work instructions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship. Good physical fitness and ability to work at heights when required. Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team. A current driver's licence is desirable.
