We are looking for an experienced specialist with a sub-speciality interest to join our busy, innovative and close-knit team in delivering ophthalmology care to our community in Te Tai Tokerau. Cataract surgery forms a staple part of services provided so it is essential candidates interested in joining our team have this experience as well as contributing to the consultant on-call roster (1:5). This role involves working with a diverse patient population, including children. As such, candidates with paediatric ophthalmology experience or a demonstrated interest in working with children are strongly preferred. The successful candidate will play a key role in assessing, diagnosing, and supporting treatment plans while ensuring a positive and reassuring experience for young patients and their families. We are looking for a dedicated and patient-focused professional with strong clinical skills and a commitment to excellence in care. Ideally, you will bring experience in paediatric ophthalmology, with the ability to engage with children and their families while delivering specialised care. To be considered you must have or be eligible for specialist (or locum tenens) registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in an Ophthalmology Vocational scope of practice. You will need to either be a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists or commit to actively working to achieve this as soon as practicable.
