Fluvial Geomorphologist

Flowstate Consulting LP – Auckland, North Island Opportunity for a Fluvial Geomorphologist with relevant experience to join a successful and growing company. You will help define workflows, software preferences, and project delivery methods, and build out geomorphology capability as a core discipline. You will work on high-stakes infrastructure and stream systems with the flexibility of a modern environment. Key responsibilities Fluvial geomorphology and stream system process evaluation Stream erosion assessment for masterplanning, SMPs, resource consents and fast-track applications Catchment and morphodynamic assessment Evaluation of risk to infrastructure and people Recommendations and detailed design of mitigation measures Desktop assessment using historical imagery, LiDAR, GIS mapping and Geomorphic Change Detection On-site geomorphic walkover and field assessment Excess shear stress assessment and bank-stability assessment, including B-STEM Morphodynamic (sediment-transport) modelling to evaluate stream channel evolution About you Experience in fluvial geomorphology and stream erosion assessments, ideally within the New Zealand regulatory context (AUP, SMPs, resource consents, fast-track applications) A degree in fluvial geomorphology, physical geography, earth/environmental science, or a closely related discipline Proficiency with QGIS or ArcGIS for data management, analysis, and mapping outputs UAV drone survey and high-resolution terrain capture advantageous Ability to troubleshoot technical hurdles and produce high-quality assessments and designs with minimal oversight A self-starter who enjoys the pace of a growing business and wants a role where their contribution is visible, valued, and influential Growth opportunities including incentives to pursue future growth opportunities such as PhD, attendances in internal conferences, and facilitation to obtain CEnvP (Chartered Environmental Practitioner) certification A results-focused environment that values trust, flexibility, and accountability over hours at a desk A small, values-led team where you play a key role in shaping the business Variety of projects, including large-scale developments as well as smaller local projects Professional memberships and continued education support #J-18808-Ljbffr
